Virtual Vail 2020 Annual Brimstone Recovery Sulfur Symposium

Presented by Brimstone STS Limited
September 15th – 17th

Because we cannot hold our annual Vail Sulfur Recovery Symposium in person this year, we are instead organizing a virtual conference during our originally scheduled week of September 14th. This “Virtual Vail” will be a three-day online meeting held on the afternoons of September 15th – 17th (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

The Brimstone Vail Sulfur Recovery Symposium covers the latest and most in-depth technical topics related to sulfur recovery. Each of the three sessions will last three hours followed by an optional one-hour general Q&A session. Like all our symposia, presentations will focus on sulfur recovery and amine treating. The presentations will be made by members of our vendor and operating companies, and will include technical papers by Alberta Sulfur Research and the Amine Best Practices Group.

Presentation submissions will be considered that deal with the core areas of sulfur processing, including but not limited to amine treating, sour water stripping, Claus sulfur recovery units, and tail gas treating units. Within these process areas, topics such as operation, design, reliability, maintenance, equipment, economics, and environmental impact are of special interest. Because this will be an online meeting, we are doing some things differently, including:

1) Shorter presentations: each will be about 30 minutes plus up to 10 minutes for Q&A

2) Written papers:  not required. However, any written papers submitted will be added to the Brimstone papers archive.

We are on a very short timeline this year, so we will need abstracts submitted electronically by Monday, August 3rdThese will be reviewed by the Symposium Technical Advisory Committee for final selection. As always, the symposium registration fee of $300 will be waived for presenters. Your final Powerpoint presentations will be due by Wednesday, September 2nd. As such, we do not yet have a presentations schedule, but in the meantime, recent Sulfur Symposium presentation titles can be seen at our website: Brimstone Symposium Details

Cost for this “Virtual Vail” Sulfur Recovery Symposium will be $300 per person, and registration will be handled through our normal symposium registration procedure. Registration opens at 08:00 PDT on Wednesday, July 29th. Click here to visit the registration page. Following successful registration, you will be sent a meeting code that allows you to participate. We are limiting this conference to 100 attendees, and as with our regular conferences, “seats” will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will be expected to identify themselves with their names and company (or group) affiliation and participant contact information (based on registration data) will be shared afterwards with attendees. The registration fee will be waived for presenters.

The meeting will use Zoom as our meeting platform, and please recognize that unlike our regular annual in-person symposium, we will not be able to guarantee confidentiality with respect to the content provided by our speakers or any verbal or written comments and/or questions.  Despite this, we expect to see some very informative presentations with some lively Q&A and discussion.

We look forward to returning to our regular in-person conference in Vail (26 straight years and counting) but until then, we hope to see you at this virtual version of the renowned Brimstone Sulfur Recovery Symposium.
